Full lower denture (with blue wash impression) flask, pack and finish.

The two halves of the flask and the lower wax try-in with blue wash impression.

A 50/50 mix of plaster of Paris and Kaffa D is poured into the shallow half of the flask.

The plaster is also placed onto the fitting surface of the lower try-in.

The lower try-in is then gently pushed into the plaster filled flask.

The excess plaster is wiped away using your fingers.

The plaster may also be smoothed with wet and dry paper.

Once fully set, the plaster is coated in cold mould seal.

Another 50/50 mix of plaster of Paris and Kaffa D is poured, this time into the deep half of the flask.

The plaster is also spread into the lingual area of the wax try-in and eventually covering the whole denture.

Ensure that the plaster fills the gingival margins fully, to prevent air blows.

The two halves of the flask are then closed together.

Ensure there is 'metal to metal' contact between the two halves of flask.

Once the plaster is set, the flask can be 'boiled out' using a boiling out machine as shown.

A wax softening programme of approx 10 minutes is used.

Then the flask can be opened, the blue wash impression material removed and the excess wax boiled away.

Once the flasks have cooled and dried, cold mould seal is applied to the plaster surfaces.

Denture acrylic is then mixed to the manufacturer's instructions and placed into the denture mould.

The two halves are then closed together and pressed together using a bench clamp. The flask is then placed into a clamp and cured to the manufactures instructions.

Once cured, the lower denture is de-flasked using the tools shown.

The de-flasked lower denture prior to trimming.

The lower denture is trimmed using a variety of trimming and smoothing burs.

The lower denture is then 'pumiced' and glossed using a lathe.

The finished lower denture. N.B. it was decided not to put gingival contouring on this denture, due to the age of the patient and their ability to keep the denture clean.
