The upper working model is trimmed, the cleft palate and undercuts are blocked out using wax as shown.

The technician may also place a light relief where the 'U' loops of the labial bow are going to be placed, to create an instant space between the soft tissues and labial arch wire.

The labial bow 3/3 is fabricated in 0.8mm S.S wire and the Adams clasps 6/6 are fabricated in 0.7mm S.S wire and waxed into position.

A ribbon of wax is also positioned and sealed in the lingual and occlusal area of the model to aid the concentration of the new acrylic in one area. The model and appliance are then soaked in water for approx 10 minutes.

The appliance is then sprayed and cured in the usual method.

The cured appliance after the wax has been 'boiled' away and the appliance ready to be trimmed, smoothed and polished in the usual method.
